This menu will give you an idea of the types of work that I do. More often than not, I combine and weave these various techniques together into custom sessions that are uniquely tailored for each client's needs at the time of that session. Most people tend to prefer this method, as opposed to choosing one specific modality of work. However, some do prefer to schedule their services in this way, and this menu will give you a good idea of what to ask for, if you want to be specific. My rates are as follows: $35 for 30 minutes, $70 for 1 hour, $90 for 1.5 hours. Package deals are available for increased savings!! Swedish Massage
The "classic" spa massage. This is a very slow, nurturing massage wonderful for deep relaxation and to ease superficial tension in the muscles. Swedish massage includes gentle stretching and movement techniques, as well.
Deep Massage
I use "The Lauterstein Method" of deep massage, which is not painful but extremely effective. This technique involves engaging the muscular fascia, much like structural integration and the Rolf™ methods do. This work deals with more deeply-held muscular tensions and structural issues, as well as facilitates deep relaxation. This extremely effective work is a favorite!
Sports Massage
As an athlete, I understand the power and importance of sports massage. This type of massage is very energizing and is primarily about circulatory techniques and stretching. Depending on your sport and what stage of training/events you are in, the type of work will vary.
Clinical Massage
These are generally 15-30 minute sessions which deal with a specific area/injury that we work exclusively. Price varies by time, but most sessions are 30 minutes for $35. **If you have been to a doctor about your injury or are recovering from a surgery, you may be asked for additional information or physician's clearance before we can work. Clinical massage sessions are generally done on consultation basis so that we can lay out a plan for your recovery.
Traditional Japanese Shiatsu
This is an ancient and very powerful form of bodywork, done on a mat on the floor. It is done wearing comfortable clothing and uses acupressure, stretching and compression to various muscles. This is also sometimes known as "acupuncture without needles" because it uses the same meridian model used by acupuncturists in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Shiatsu work is a fun change if you are looking for something different in bodywork, and it's a wonderful introduction to bodywork for those who are new to it. **note** be sure to wear something that you can move easily in for this session, shiatsu has lots of movement and stretching!** Shiatsu sessions are 1 hour.
Structural Massage
This involves observing posture & movement, and coming up with a comprehensive plan over a set amount of sessions. This will use a combination of many different bodywork techniques (often varying from session-to-session), stretching and usually comes with work for you to do in between sessions. (like stretches) Wonderful results can be achieved with this type of work. These sessions need to happen at regular intervals, usually once every week or two, in order to achieve the best possible results. All structural bodywork sessions will be 1.5 hours, with a minimum of 3 sessions.
